Leaf: glossy dark green leaves, both simple and trifoliate, serrate, broad elliptic
Flower: white, 6 cm in width, showy, with prominent stamens, blooming in late summer and autumn
Height: up to 32'; Spread: 19'
Habit: large evergreen shrub; Form: broadly columnar
Culture: Plant in full sun to part shade, in acidic, moist soils that are well drained. Prefers a humus-rich soil, that is moist. Fair tolerance of alkaline soils. Best in a sheltered location. Hardy in USDA zones 6-9. Prefers its roots to be in the shade.
Uses: tall screen in a sheltered area or by a garden wall, solo specimen
