Flower: nodding, with 5 reflexed and twisted petals, often with dark margins at the base, 2 cm wide, open from late winter, and early spring, deep pink
Habit: tuberous herbaceous perennial
Form: mounded
Height: up to 10 cm; Spread: up to 10cm
Culture: Plant 5cm deep in moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soils. Avoid excessive summer moisture, and mulch when leaves wither. Likes dappled shade. Hardy in USDA zones 6-9.
Uses: groundcover, en mass, understory plantings, containers
