Common name: English laurel
Family: Rosaceae
Leaf: dark green, leathery, shiny, 10-25cm long, with finely serrated margin
Flowers: erect racemes of creamy-white flowers, appearing in early summer
Habit: evergreen shrub or small to medium-sized tree; Form: oval to rounded
Fruit: cherry-like glossy red fruits
Height: 16-45' tall
Culture: easily grown in moderately fertile soil in medium moisture, in full sun to part shade. Excellent for pruning into a hedge. Can become chlorotic on shallower chalkier soils.
Uses: drought resistant hedging, low maintenance, screens
