Leaf: Simple, tiny, rounded, glossy leaves, evergreen, drake green, alternate
Flower: small white flowers, appearing in spring, 5 petals
Fruit: red poems, showy
Habit: evergreen groundcover;  Form: matting
Height: 2-3'; Spread: up to 5' across
Culture: A hardy plant, easy to grow. Tolerance of wide variety of soils, but does best in moderately fertile, well-drained soils. Thrives in most soils as long as they are not water-logged. Tolerates dry soils and heavy clay soils. Does well in full sun to part shade, but fruiting may jot be as good in shadier positions. Tolerates temperatures down to -25 degrees C. Fairly slow growing. Susceptible to honey fungus. USDA zones 4-8. Tolerates urban pollution. Tolerates strong winds, but not maritime exposure.
Uses: slope, erosion control, rock gardens, over walls
Origin: East Asia, Himalayas
