Common name: Japanese euonymous
Family: Celastraceae
Leaf: opposite, tough, leathery, lustrous, ovate to obovate, dark green leaves, up to 3" long, blunt to rounded at the apex, with serrated margins except at the base
Flowers: non-showy, greenish-white flowers in cymes in June
Height: 0.5-0.75'; Spread: 0.25- 0.5'
Habit: evergreen shrub; Form: oval
Culture: Winter hardy to USDA zones 7-9. Best grown in rich, humusy, well-drained soils, in part shade. Thrives in sun-dappled areas. Does tolerate full-sun, but needs some afternoon shade in hotter summer climates. Can get crown gall, spider mites, mealy bugs, etc.
Uses: Foundations, hedges, in specimen or groupings
Origin: Japan, Korea, China
