Leaf: simple, alternate, leather, drooping, dark green lanceolate to elliptic leaves
Flowers: small, truss of 1-3 silky, chartreuse yellow, campanulate florets with green speckling; blooms March-April
Habit: evergreen shrub; Form: rounded
Height: up to 9'; Spread: up to 9'
Culture: Succeeds in a humus-rich, lime-free soils. Prefers a peaty soil or sandy loam. Likes soils leaning towards acidic. Hardy in USDA zones 6-9. Succeeds in full sun or shade- the warmer the climate, the more in shade it will need to be. Somewhat drought tolerant. Does not grow well with groundcover at its root zone.
Uses: woodland margin, foundation planting. Specimen.
