Common name: crowberry, black crowberry
Family: Ericaceae
Leaf: 3-6 mm long, alternate
Flowers: tiny, pink flowers with showy anthers that protrude well beyond the confines of the corolla, dioecious 
Fruit: drupes, showy 4-6 mm wide, usually black and purple-black. Edible.
Habit: evergreen shrub; Form: mounding
Height: up to 1'; Spread: up to 1.5'
Culture: Hardy in USDA zones 3-8. Can be grown in acidic soils in shady, or sunny moist areas. Best fruiting occurs in full sun.
Uses: groundcover, low shrub, ornamental plant in rock gardens. 
Origin: circumpolar distribution
