Common name: red huckleberry
Family: Ericaceae
Leaf: alternate, simple, ovate, 1-3 cm, twigs are bright green, simple, entire margins
Flowers: The whitish pink/green flowers are urn shaped with 5 tiny petals, blooming from May to June.
Fruit: delicious, small, (6-9 mm), tart, red berry. The berries dangle from small stems under the branches.
Habit: deciduous shrub; Form: upright oval shrub
Height: 5-12'
Culture:  Best grown in full sun to part shade, in moist, freely-draining, slightly acidic soils. Likes peaty or light loam soils. Hardy in USDA zones 5-9. Benefits from protection from winds. Does not root disturbance.
Uses: underscore attractive delicate foliage.
Origin: Western North America, Alaska to California
