Leaf: oval-shaped, 6 cm long, dull green, fuzzy, glandular on both surfaces. Leaves are held vertically, perfectly.
Flowers: small, urn-shaped flowers are borne in bunched inflorescences.
Fruit: red drupe about a cm in diameter.
Habit: tree-like shrub; Form: mounded
Height: up to 10'; Spread: up to 10'
Culture: Plant in moist, well-drained sandy soil, in sun or semi-shade. Less fruiting happens in shade. Does not like being transplanted and should be planted in their permanent locations. Hardy in USDA zones 6-9. Can get black spot in gardens. Drought tolerant once established. Does not like poorly-drained soils.
Uses: on a rocky, crevice slopes, in part shade. Attractive tree-like shrub with attractive bark.
