Phlomis fruticosa

Leaf: wrinkled, ovate to lanceolate, grey-green leaves, up to 5" long
Flower: whorls of yellow spherical clusters (called 'verticillasters'), appearing on the upper half or on the top of the stems, near the end of the summer.
Height: 2-4'; Spread: 3-5'
Habit: shrubby evergreen; Form: mounding
Culture: Winter hardy to USDA zones 8-10. Plants tend to die down to the ground in USDA zones 5,6,7, with roots still surviving. Best grown in organically rich, fertile, well-drained soils in full sun. Some tolerance of drier soils once established. Stem may be cut back after flowering to encourage further blooming.
Uses: Meadow, perennial planting, specimen
